19:4a while he himself traveled on a day’s journey into the wilderness.
But Elijah himself went on for another day, into the wilderness.

But Elijah himself kept going into the open pastureland/countryside for another day.

while he kept going for one more more day. He came to a deserted area.
19:4b He sat down under a broom tree
He stopped and sat in the shade/shelter of a ⌊large⌋ broom bush.
-or-
He sat down when he came to a shady tree.
-or-
There he sat down under a small tree
19:4c and prayed that he might die.
Wishing to die,
-or-
He began to pray for death.
-or-
and asked ⌊God⌋ to let him die.
19:4c “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life,
Elijah prayed, “Enough now/already! O Yahweh, take my life.

He said to Yahweh, “I have ⌊suffered/endured⌋ enough. Let me die. I might as well be dead

He prayed to Yahweh to take his life. He said that he did not want to do/work any more,
19:4d for I am no better than my fathers.”
I am not any better than my ⌊dead⌋ fathers were.”

like my ancestors. I am no more successful than them!”

for he could not succeed where his ancestors had failed!
