A holy people and blameless race wisdom delivered from a nation of oppressors: A holy people and blameless race are the objects of the verb delivered. Good News Translation states it clearly, as does Revised English Bible: “It was wisdom who rescued a god-fearing people, a blameless race, from a nation of oppressors.” The holy people are of course the Israelites, and the nation of oppressors the Egyptians. A holy people and blameless race may be combined as “God’s innocent people.” A nation of oppressors may be rendered as “a nation that was oppressing them” or “the people [or, those] that were oppressing them.”
