For almsgiving saves from death: On what almsgiving does for the giver, compare Sir 3.30; Pro 19.17. Contemporary English Version has a helpful model: “because giving to the poor saves you from death.”

Purges away every sin: The meaning is that almsgiving counteracts the guilt of sins a person has committed. Good News Translation expresses it as “will wash away all your sins”; New English Bible has “wipes out all sin.”

Enjoy full life means “to have a successful life.”
