Translation commentary on Tobit 12:1

Wedding celebration: This translates one word, generally rendered “wedding,” but here it obviously means an extended celebration or feast.

See to paying the wages of the man who went with you may be rendered “be sure that you pay the wages of the man who traveled with you.” On the agreement made, see 5.15.

Give him a bonus: This is an extra payment over and above what was agreed upon. Tobit mentioned this possibility in 5.16. “Don’t forget” is added by Good News Translation as conversationally appropriate.
