Let your hope keep you joyful (Jerusalem Bible “If you have hope, this will make you cheerful”) is literally “rejoicing in hope.” The phrase “in hope” means “on the basis of your hope,” and this is the basis for the Good News Translation translation. In a number of languages, however, the basis of something may be indicated by a clause beginning with “because”—for example, “because you have hope, keep on being joyful.”

The phrase in your troubles may be equivalent to “when you have troubles” or “when others are troubling you.”
