On his robe and on his thigh: some suggest that this means “on the part of the robe that covered his thigh,” which is a reasonable assumption, as the writer would have clearly seen this name. If it was on his thigh, it would have been hidden. But only Moffatt follows this: “and on his robe, upon his thigh….” If a translation has to specify which leg the writer is talking about, probably the right leg should be chosen.
