On the eighth day refers to the eighth day after the corpse defiles the Nazirite. Contemporary English Version says “on the next day” since the seventh day is referred to in the previous verse.

He shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest to the door of the tent of meeting: The Hebrew word for turtledoves is tor. This word is onomatopoeic: it imitates the sound this bird makes. Turtledoves are smaller than pigeons. Both are blue-gray birds with a pinkish chest. In some languages “doves” are considered wild while “pigeons” are domesticated. But in languages that do not distinguish between turtledoves and pigeons, translators may render two turtlesdoves or two young pigeons as “two pigeons [or, doves] of any type.”

The door of the tent of meeting is more accurately rendered “the entrance to the Tent of Meeting” (New International Version, Revised English Bible), especially in languages where a “door” refers to something solid that opens and closes on hinges.
