The LORD said to Moses: See 1.1. This familiar divine speech formula again marks the beginning of a new section of discourse (see 33.50; 34.1). Here it introduces God’s words to Moses in verses 17-28. Revised Standard Version closes the quote at the end of verse 29 and Good News Translation closes it at the end of verse 18, but according to most translations, it finishes at the end of verse 28, which we prefer.
