But among these there was not a man of those numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest: The Hebrew waw conjunction rendered But (literally “And”) may be omitted here (so Good News Bible). Once again the Hebrew verb for numbered (paqad) is better rendered “enrolled” (New Revised Standard Version).
