So Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD …: Moses did what the LORD instructed him to do. So renders well the Hebrew waw conjunction at the beginning of this verse. Parole de Vie renders Moses went out as “Moses left the tent [that is, the Tent of Meeting]” to include the implied information, which other languages may find helpful.

And he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and placed them round about the tent: See the comments on verse 16.
