Some of the towns are singled out by a reference to their surrounding localities. Beersheba is cited “and her daughters,” that is, and its villages. This town was located in the Negeb 47 kilometers (29 miles) southwest of Hebron. It was very important in the lives of both Abraham and Isaac (Gen 21.31; 26.33).
