Revised Standard Version accurately represents the Greek structure of this verse as a separate sentence. This sentence summarizes what is said in verses 1-4. In the original Hebrew behind this text, this would have been an expected and acceptable statement. But it sounds repetitious in English, so Good News Translation and Contemporary English Version have turned it into a time clause introducing the substance of the new paragraph beginning in verse 6. Good News Translation has “After the peace delegation had brought this message…,” and Contemporary English Version has “After Holofernes had listened to their message….”
