Verse 8 may be somewhat abbreviated; “This territory included all the cities and towns as far south as the city of Baalath Beer, which is also known as Ramah.” The second sentence of Good News Translation is repetitious and need not be included.

Verse 9 may be translated, “Joshua had given the tribe of Judah more territory then they needed, so he gave part of its territory to the tribe of Simeon.”
