As for the incense you burned … did not the LORD remember it? Did it not come into his mind?: The construction of this verse (both in Revised Standard Version and Good News Translation) is probably somewhat difficult for English readers. It may be best to do away with the question form and render the whole verse something like the following:

• You and your ancestors, your kings and your leaders, and the people of the land offered sacrifices in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. But the LORD knew about them and did not forget them.
