Translation commentary on Jeremiah 34:20

Into the hand: As elsewhere, this means “into the power [or, control].” See verse 2.

Their enemies are to be identified with those who seek their lives (see the same expression in 11.21).

Their dead bodies shall be food: See 7.33.

It is unnatural in some languages to speak of birds of the air and beasts of the earth, and Good News Translation, among others, has simply “birds” and “wild animals.” Translators should do whatever is most natural for them. See 7.33.
