Repented: This is the same verb rendered “turned around” in verses 11, 16. The verb is used numerous times in Jeremiah. In this context it may mean either “turn [from their sins]” or “turn [to God].” Good News Translation has “changed your minds.”

Did what was right in my eyes; that is, “did what pleases me” (New Jerusalem Bible) or “did what pleased me” (Good News Translation).

Proclaiming liberty in this context means “setting free” or “declaring free.”

Each to his neighbor means “your fellow Israelites [who were slaves].”

Covenant: See verse 13.

Before me is better expressed as “in my presence” (Jerusalem Bible, Revised English Bible, Good News Translation).

The house is identified by Good News Translation, Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch, and Bible en français courant as the temple.

Which is called by my name: Good News Translation has “where I am worshiped,” but Bible en français courant “which is dedicated to me” is perhaps closer to the meaning. See 7.10.
