In my anger and my wrath and in great indignation: For anger and wrath, see verse 31. Indignation is used elsewhere in Jeremiah only in 10.10 (Revised Standard Version “wrath” here and the next two occurrences); 21.5; 50.13. It actually means “anger” or “rage,” and is parallel with anger and wrath. In this context great indignation may be the strongest of the three terms in the sequence. Translators may certainly use three words if this is natural. The main thing, however, is to express how great is the anger, as in “… where I scattered them because I was so completely angry with them.”
