Justice and righteousness are probably best understood as meaning the same thing (see 9.24). “Be concerned for justice” is the rendering of Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch. Good News Translation has “do what is just and right,” which in English makes the two words basically equivalent. It is not possible to speak of these terms in the abstract in many languages, in which case translators can say “Treat people justly” or “Treat people in a way that is right and just.”

Deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed: See 21.12.

Do no wrong: In a different form the same verb is translated “oppressor” by Revised Standard Version in 25.38; 46.16; 50.16. The root of the verb itself suggests violence or oppression, and is perhaps stronger than its rendering in Revised Standard Version. Good News Translation has “mistreat,” New Jerusalem Bible “exploit,” and Revised English Bible “ill-treat.”
