Verses 5-6 are essentially the same as 7.31-32.

For Baal see 2.8.

Their sons refers to “their children” (Good News Translation), in the same way that “their sons and their daughters” does in 7.31. Compare 6.21.

For burnt offerings, see 6.20.

In place of the two verbs command and decree, only command is found in 7.31. They are best taken as terms that have the same meaning: “I never commanded them to do this” (Good News Translation).
