Translation commentary on Ezekiel 44:31

The priests shall not eat of anything, whether bird or beast, that has died of itself or is torn: This is God’s final rule for the priests. They must not eat the meat of any bird or animal that has died “a natural death or that has been killed by a wild animal” (Contemporary English Version; similarly Good News Translation). This is the same rule that applied to the priests under the Law of Moses (see Lev 22.8). A model for this verse is:

• The priests must not eat any bird or animal that has died a natural death or that wild animals have killed.”
