Translation commentary on Ezekiel 40:24

And he led me toward the south, and behold, there was a gate on the south: After Ezekiel’s guide brought him to the north gatehouse of the Temple’s outer courtyard, he led him across the courtyard to the south gatehouse. For behold and gate, see Ezek 40.3.

And he measured its jambs and its vestibule: For jambs see verses 9-10; for vestibule see Ezek 40.7. New Jerusalem Bible adds “its guardrooms” (similarly Revised English Bible “its cells”), but, like Hebrew Old Testament Text Project, we do not recommend this addition.

They had the same size as the others: In the Temple’s outer courtyard the structures of the south gatehouse were identical to those of the east and north gatehouses.
