Verses 26-27 describe how God will give the Israelites new attitudes and a new character.

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you: See 11.19 for this figurative language. There is no real difference here between the verbs give and put, and they both can be rendered “insert.”

And I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh: See 11.19 for this figurative language.
