It may be necessary to specify where Philip ran to, for example, “ran over to where the Ethiopian was riding along.”

The question Do you understand what you are reading? must not be so translated as to suggest that the Ethiopian did not know the language nor that he was unable to read correctly. The question really involves the interpretation of what he had read. Therefore, in some languages, the question is framed as “Do you understand the meaning of what you are reading?”
