Since “I” is emphatic in the Greek sentence, it has here been rendered as I myself. Everything I could is literally “many things,” but the meaning in the present context is clear.

Do everything I could against the name of Jesus of Nazareth may be rendered as “do everything I could to harm the name of Jesus of Nazareth.” In some languages, however, one simply cannot use the name in this type of context. One must refer to the person himself, for the use of the name would imply some type of magic incantation or verbal sorcery.
