Family is the same word translated the people of her house in verse 15 and family in 10.2. The relationship between the jailer’s belief in the Lord Jesus and the salvation of his family is not clear. Did Paul say that the jailer’s belief was sufficient both for him and for his family, or did Paul tell the jailer that if he believed he would be saved, and if his family believed they also would be saved? The first of these alternatives more naturally suits the meaning on the Greek.
