The usual summary formula for the reign of a king is followed here. Translators should ensure that they utilize the same approach to this verse as in the many other cases where this formula is used (see 1 Kgs 11.41; 14.29). This may mean avoiding the question format while making sure that there is no misunderstanding about the meaning of the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah.
The king’s name in the Masoretic Text here is actually “Azaryahu,” but it is “Azariah” in the next verse. In both places it is recommended that the name “Uzziah” be used (so Good News Translation; see the comments at 2 Kgs 14.21).
