Translation commentary on 2 Esdras 7:114

Sinful indulgence has come to an end, unbelief has been cut off: In Latin this verse continues the sentence in the previous one, but if translators begin a new sentence here, they should start with the phrase “At that time,” that is, the future age. Sinful indulgence means “selfishness” (Contemporary English Version). The verb phrases has come to an end and has been cut off mean the same thing. So these two clauses may be combined by saying “At that time all selfishness and disbelief will come to an end [or, will disappear].”

And righteousness has increased and truth has appeared: Has increased and has appeared seem to mean “will appear in full maturity” (similarly Good News Bible).
