Those who have departed from the shadow of this age have received glorious garments from the Lord: Those who have departed refers euphemistically to those who have died, which we make clear in the model below. Good News Bible says “shining white robes,” and Contemporary English Version has “dazzling white robes.” Alternative models for this verse are:

• Those who have died and escaped these dark times have received shining white robes from the Lord.

• The Lord has given shining white robes to those who have died and escaped these dark times.
