In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah: According to 2 Chr 34.8, Josiah began to repair the Temple in the eighteenth year of his reign (see the comments there).

This passover was kept: Once again this passive expression may be made active by making the people of Israel the subject of the verb kept. Good News Translation makes this verse a continuation of the sentence begun in the previous verse and thereby avoids the need to translate the expression again. Contemporary English Version, on the other hand, makes this verse a more general statement, summarizing what has already been said in the text as follows: “All these things happened in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s rule in Judah.”
