They made new holy vessels: The holy vessels refers to the various utensils used for worship in the Temple. Antiochus had plundered the Temple of these objects (see 1Macc 1.20-24). Holy vessels may be rendered “utensils for worship” (Good News Bible).

And brought the lampstand, the altar of incense, and the table into the temple: Antiochus had also stolen these objects, so they had to be constructed. Both Good News Bible and Contemporary English Version are wrong in stating that they remade only the “utensils” or “bowls.” For the lampstand and the altar of incense, see the comments on 1.21. The altar of incense may be rendered “the altar for burning sweet-smelling substances.” Good News Bible translates the table as “the table for the bread,” and Contemporary English Version says “table for the sacred bread” (see the comments on 1Macc 1.22). This may be rendered “the table for the offerings of bread.” Translators who are not following our author in avoiding direct references to God could say “the table for the bread that was offered to God.” Into the temple refers to the interior of the central Temple building.

An alternative translation model for this verse is:

• They made some new utensils to be used in worship, and they also made and brought into the Temple the lampstand, the incense altar, and the table for the sacred bread.
