And when their enemies decided to invade their country and lay hands on their sanctuary: This verse refers to Trypho’s invasion in 13.1-24. Connecting it with the model for the previous verse, we may say:
• But after he died, 31 our enemies made plans to invade our country. They wanted to attack [or, take possession of] our Temple.
