Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 3:24

The sons of Eli-o-enai: Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani, seven: Since this is the end of the list of Jehoiachin’s descendants, Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch begins with “And finally the seven sons of Elioenai….” Nothing more is known of any of these persons. The name written Hodaviah in Revised Standard Version and Good News Translation is actually “Hodavyahu” (Traduction œcuménique de la Bible) in the Hebrew, but this is nothing more than a slightly longer form of the same name and so may be written in the shortened form. As in the previous verses, Good News Translation shifts the number seven forward toward the beginning of the verse.
