This song of praise ends with a prayer for God to deliver his people from exile and take them back to their land, where once again they will praise him.

Say also: The verb Say is plural in Hebrew. The word also seems to be a translation of the common Hebrew conjunction at the beginning of the verse, but it is not necessary to render it in this case. Several versions add “to him” (Good News Translation, Contemporary English Version, New Century Version, Bible en français courant) in order to make it clear that what follows is a prayer addressed to God. NET Bible makes it very clear by rendering this line as “Say this prayer.”

Deliver us, O God of our salvation: God of our salvation may be translated “God, our savior” (New American Bible; similarly Revised English Bible, Parole de Vie) or “God who saves us,” using a habitual form of the verb.

And gather and save us from among the nations: The Hebrew verb translated gather means “to assemble” or “to gather together.” The Hebrew verb rendered save often has the sense of “to tear from” or “to pull out.” This verb often refers to snatching away or freeing something or someone from some situation of distress.

That we might give thanks to thy holy name: For thy holy name, see the comments on verse 10. This whole clause may be rendered “so that we may thank you who are holy.”

And glory in thy praise refers to the praise that the people express to God. Parole de Vie says “and we will be proud to sing your praises.”
