Oholibamah was the second wife of Esau (Gen 36.2) and the mother of Jeush, Jalam, and Korah (verse 35; Gen 36.5, 14, 18). Here in verse 52 Oholibamah may refer to a man by the same name. If the wife of Esau is in view, then she was considered to be one of the Edomite chiefs.
Elah may be a personal name or tribal designation. Some interpreters consider it to be a place name and equate it with the port city of Elath on the north coast of the Gulf of Aqaba.
It is not certain whether Pinon is a person’s name or a place name.
