2:2a Without pity the Lord has swallowed up

The Lord destroyed without mercy (FBV)

Without compassion God destroyed

2:2b all the dwellings of Jacob.

all the places where the descendants of Jacob lived. (FBV)

2:2c In His wrath He has demolished

Because he was very angry, he destroyed

2:2d the fortified cities of the Daughter of Judah.

strong towers in ⌊the whole country of⌋ Judah.

all of Judah’s strong towns ⌊where the people could be protected⌋ .

2:2a-d (combined)

The Lord was so very angry ⌊with his people⌋ that he destroyed everything in Judah without pity. He destroyed the ⌊villages with their⌋ pastures as well as the strong towns ⌊with walls⌋ .

2:2e He brought to the ground and defiled

He disgraced

He took away the position and honor

2:2f her kingdom and its princes.

her kingdom and her rulers.

of our king and his officials.

He brought disgrace on the kingdom and its rulers. Now they have no authority anymore.
