8:15a And Gideon went to the men of Succoth and said,

Gideon went to the people of Sukkoth town and said to them,

Then Gideon ⌊and his soldiers⌋ went back to Sukkoth and spoke to their leaders. He said,

8:15b “Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me, saying,

“Do you (plur.) remember how you insulted me? Look, here are Zebah and Zalmunna. ⌊That day⌋ you asked me,

“Look, I have captured King Zebah and King Zalmunna. ⌊When I was here before⌋ you mocked me. You said

8:15c ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your possession,

‘Have you (sing.) already caught Zebah and Zalmunna?
-or-
that until I captured these kings

8:15d that we should give bread to your weary men?’

Why should we (excl.) give bread to your tired men?’ ”
-or-
you would not give my men any food.”

8:15b-d (reordered)

“⌊On that day⌋ you (plur.) insulted me and said you would not feed my exhausted soldiers until I caught King Zebah and King Zalmunna. Now, look, here are Zebah and Zalmunna.”
