10:6a Then Ezra withdrew from before the house of God
Then Ezra departed from the front of the house of God,
-or-
Then Ezra left the place where he was praying in the court of the temple of God.
10:6b and walked to the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib.
and went to the room that belonged to Jehohanan who was the son of Eliashib.
-or-
He went to the room ⌊at/in the temple area⌋ that was the living quarters of Jehohanan. Jehohanan was the son of Eliashib.

Then Ezra went from the front of the temple to a room in the temple where Jehohanan, son of Eliashib, was living/staying.
10:6c And while he stayed there, he ate no food and drank no water,
New Living Translation (2004): He spent the night there without eating or drinking anything.
He stayed there for the night. While he was there, he ate no food and drank no water,

That night he stayed with Jehohanan, but he did not eat any food or drink any water.
10:6d because he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.
for he was mourning because those who had returned had not been loyal/true to God.
-or-
He did this because he was still very sad that the people who returned ⌊to Judah⌋ had not kept their covenant/oath with God.
-or-
He was still crying/grieving about the people who had ⌊previously⌋ returned from captivity ⌊in Babylon⌋. They had broken their covenant/agreement with God. ⌊That is the reason he was fasting.⌋
10:6c-d (reordered)
He stayed there for the night and mourned because those who had returned had not been loyal/true to God. ⌊He demonstrated/showed his sadness⌋ by not eating any food or drinking any water.
