5:16a Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says:

And so, Yahweh, the Lord, the Most Powerful God, says ⌊this⌋ :

Therefore, Yahweh, who is the Lord/Master, the God who controls hosts/armies of angels said,

5:16b “There will be wailing in all the public squares

“⌊There will be⌋ crying in every street
-or-
“In all the streets ⌊people will cry loudly over you (plur.) ⌋ . They will say, ‘Oh! Oh!’

5:16c and cries of ‘Alas! Alas!’ in all the streets.

and shouts of grief/sadness in every town square.

⌊They will⌋ sob greatly in the public places.

5:16d The farmer will be summoned to mourn,

⌊Even⌋ farmers will be told to mourn ⌊the dead ⌋ ,
-or-

⌊People⌋ will call farm workers to cry ⌊with them⌋ .

5:16e and the mourners to wail.

and ⌊professional⌋ mourners ⌊will be called⌋ to do the death/mourning rituals.

⌊They will call⌋ paid mourners to wail/cry ⌊for those who have died⌋ .
