9:5a and when he arrived,

When he arrived there,

On his arrival

9:5b the army commanders were sitting there.

he found the officers of the army sitting/meeting together.

-or-

he saw that the army officers were having a meeting/conference.

9:5c “I have a message for you, commander,” he said.

He said, “Officer, I bring you a message.”

-or-

So he said, “Please sir, I have a message for one of you.”

-or-

The young man told them that he had something to tell an officer.

9:5d “For which of us?” asked Jehu.

Jehu asked ⌊the young man⌋ , “Who among us ⌊are you talking to⌋ ?”

-or-

Jehu asked, “Who is this message for?”

-or-

Jehu asked ⌊the young man⌋ to whom he wanted to speak.

9:5e “For you, commander,” he replied.

The young man replied, “Please sir, you are the one ⌊I want to talk to⌋ .”

-or-

The young prophet answered, “My message is for you, commander/officer ⌊Jehu⌋ .”

-or-

The young prophet replied that it was Jehu himself.
