6:33a While Elisha was still speaking with them,
Before Elisha had finished talking with the elders,

Elisha had hardly finished saying this to the men who were with him,
6:33b the messenger came down to him.
the messenger arrived ⌊at the prophet’s house⌋ . ⌊Behind him came the king.⌋

6:33c And the king said, “This calamity is from the LORD.
The king said, “It is Yahweh who is responsible for this disaster/evil.

6:33d Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
Why should I wait/hope for Yahweh ⌊to do something for us (incl.) ⌋ ?”

I have no hope that Yahweh ⌊will help us (incl.) ⌋ now.”

⌊He said that⌋ he no longer thought/expected that Yahweh would help/save them.

The king said, “There is no reason to think that Yahweh will help us now. He is the one who has caused this disaster.”
