4:42a Now a man from Baal-shalishah came

⌊Another day⌋ a man arrived from ⌊the town of⌋ Baal Shalishah.

⌊One day,⌋ a man came from Baal Shalishah ⌊town⌋ ⌊to see/meet the prophet Elisha⌋ .

4:42b to the man of God with a sack of twenty loaves of barley bread

He brought/gave ⌊Elisha⌋ the man of God a sack containing twenty loaves of bread

-or-

He brought with him a bag full of twenty loaves of barley bread to give to Elisha.

4:42c from the first ripe grain.

made from the first barley ⌊of the harvest⌋ .

-or-

He had used the first barley crops ⌊of the season⌋ to make them.

4:42d “Give it to the people to eat,” said Elisha.

Elisha said ⌊to his servant⌋ , “Give (sing.) this to the people/men so they can have something to eat.”

Elisha said ⌊to his servant⌋ , “Serve ⌊all⌋ this to the group of prophets.”

Elisha told his servant to give the food to the crowd/group to eat.
