18:18a Then they called for the king;

They sent a message to/for the king.

18:18b and Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebnah the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, went out to them.

Then the palace manager Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the royal secretary Shebna, and the officer in charge of records, Joah son of Asaph, came out ⌊of the city⌋ to ⌊talk to⌋ them.

Hezekiah sent these officials to ⌊meet⌋ them: Hilkiah’s son Eliakim, who was the palace supervisor, Shebna, who was the official/court scribe, and Asaph’s son Joah, who was the recorder.
