SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 17:8

17:8a and walked in the customs of the nations

They practiced the traditions of the ⌊other⌋ nations,

-or-

They lived like the ⌊pagan⌋ nations

17:8b that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites,

the nations whom Yahweh had sent away ⌊from the land⌋ so they could enter it.

-or-

whom Yahweh had forced out ⌊of the land⌋ so they could live there.

17:8c as well as in the practices introduced by the kings of Israel.

⌊They also followed⌋ the traditions that the kings of Israel had begun.

-or-

⌊The people of Israel also kept/continued⌋ the ⌊sinful/pagan⌋ customs introduced/established by their own kings.
