SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 13:13

13:13a And Jehoash rested with his fathers,

Jehoash went to be with his ancestors.

-or-

Then Jehoash ⌊died and⌋ joined his grandfathers/ancestors.

13:13b and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne.

This was the second king of Israel with the name Jeroboam. The Good News Translation therefore refers to him as Jeroboam II.

His son Jeroboam became the king ⌊of Israel⌋ in his place/stead.

-or-

Jeroboam, his son, ruled ⌊Israel⌋ after him.

13:13c Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

Jehoash was buried in ⌊the city called⌋ Samaria beside/with the ⌊previous/past⌋ kings of Israel.

-or-

His/Jehoash’s people buried him in Samaria ⌊city⌋ , ⌊in the burial place where they had buried⌋ the ⌊other⌋ kings of Israel.

Jehoash died and was buried in the royal tombs in Samaria, and his son Jeroboam II succeeded him as king. (Good News Translation)
