11:9a So the commanders of hundreds did everything that Jehoiada the priest had ordered.

The army captains obeyed Jehoida the priest.

The army/military officers did what Jehoida the priest told them to do.

11:9b Each of them took his men—

Each captain brought his men,

Every officer called his soldiers/guards,

11:9c those coming on duty on the Sabbath

the men who were starting guard duty that Sabbath day

those whose turn for guard duty was to begin on that Sabbath day,

11:9d and those going off duty—

as well as the men who were not on duty.

together with those who were off duty.

11:9e and came to Jehoiada the priest.

They came together to Jehoiada the priest.
