10:17a When Jehu came to Samaria,

When he arrived in the city of Samaria,

-or-

When Jehu ⌊and his friends/allies⌋ came to Samaria city,

10:17b he struck down everyone belonging to Ahab who remained there,

Jehu executed the rest of the people who were from the family of Ahab.

-or-

they massacred all the remaining people from the house of King Ahab.

10:17c until he had destroyed them,

He wiped them out,

-or-

They completely removed/wiped Ahab’s descendants from the earth.

10:17d according to the word that the LORD had spoken to Elijah.

in fulfilment of the word of Yahweh which he told Elijah.

-or-

This was what Yahweh had told Elijah would happen.
