9:27a The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones,

King Solomon made silver as plentiful as stones in Jerusalem.

During the reign of Solomon, there was silver everywhere in Jerusalem. It was as common as stones.

9:27b and cedar as abundant as sycamore in the foothills.

The tree called cedar was as plentiful as sycamore trees in the lowlands.

The wood of cedar trees was as abundant as the wood of sycamore trees from the lower hills.
