9:21a For the king had the ships of Tarshish

Solomon had a lot of ships that sailed with traders.

King Solomon had ships that carried traders and sellers.

9:21b that went with Hiram’s servants,

These ships were managed by the sailors of King Hiram.

It was King Hiram’s men who led these ships.

9:21c and once every three years the ships of Tarshish would arrive

Every three years the ships used to come back

9:21d bearing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.
