SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Chronicles 6:5

6:5a ‘Since the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt,

‘Since I led my people out of Egypt,
-or-
‘I caused my people Israel to leave the land of Egypt long ago. Since then

6:5b I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel

I have never chosen a city from any clan of Israel
-or-
I have not selected any city anywhere in Israel. I have not chosen

6:5c in which to build a house

as a place to build a temple
-or-
a place to build a house

6:5d so that My Name would be there,

where my name will be.
-or-
for the people ⌊to worship/honor⌋ me.

6:5e nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over My people Israel.

And I did not choose a man to rule over my people Israel.
-or-
And I did not select any person to lead Israel, my people.
