36:16a But they mocked the messengers of God,

But they mocked God’s messengers.

But the people laughed at the messengers from God.

36:16b despising His words and scoffing at His prophets,

They despised what God told them and made fun of his prophets.

They ignored what God said to them and refused to listen to his prophets.

36:16c until the wrath of the LORD against His people was stirred up

They did this until the anger of Yahweh against his people was so great

Because of this, Yahweh became very angry with his people

36:16d beyond remedy.

that no one could stop it.

and nothing could stop him ⌊from destroying them⌋.
